AC/DC's Brian Johnson may not be able to perform live anymore, but he's not leaving the music business entirely behind. The singer will serve as host for a new internet radio program titled "The Producers" which, as the name suggests, focuses on those indispensable people in the recording studio who help artists realize their vision. "The Producers" airs Sundays on Planet Rock.
Producers like Roy Thomas Baker (Queen, the Cars), Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush) and Bob Rock (Metallica, Mötley Crüe) are among the studio mavens who will sit down and discuss their craft with Johnson, Ultimate Classic Rock reports.
"Having been fortunate to work alongside some of the best producers in rock, it's great to be part of this show with Planet Rock," Johnson said in a statement. "To be able to shine a light on how a producer captures a moment in the studio and turns it into rock & roll dynamite, is great. Being able to listen to these guys talk about what they do best is a joy."
Johnson joins Alice Cooper and Def Leppard's Joe Elliott as artists who host their own shows on Planet Rock.
In June, Johnson announced that new inner ear technology has made him hopeful that he'll one day perform live again. However, if he is medically cleared to return to AC/DC, it's unclear if there will be an AC/DC to reunite with: Bassist Cliff Williams recently revealed that he's "backing off of touring and recording" following the band's final tour dates with Axl Rose later this summer.
