Anderson .Paak and T.I. Perform “Come Down” on ‘Tonight Show’ Hours Before Concert Shooting

Anderson .Paak, the Free Nationals, and T.I. delivered a blistering performance of the Malibu cut “Come Down” on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show on Wednesday, just hours before a fatal shooting at New York City’s Irving Plaza during a T.I. concert. The performance earned an impassioned co-sign from Roots member Black Thought, who quickly offered up his services for the remix:

Earlier this month, .Paak announced a world tour with the Free Nationals in support of Malibu. The tour follows a well-received Coachella set in April that saw .Paak and T.I., once again backed by the Free Nationals, tackling fresh versions of T.I. classics “About the Money” and “Bring ‘Em Out.”

The pre-recorded Tonight Show performance aired on NBC as details regarding the shooting started to emerge. The shooting reportedly left one person dead and three others injured. Both .Paak and T.I. were set to perform at Irving Plaza late Wednesday, but neither artist was on stage when shots were fired.

A representative for .Paak told Complex early Thursday morning that he had not been injured during the shooting.
