Another Member of Bobby Shmurda's GS9 Crew Gets a Long Prison Sentence news

Just three days after news broke of GS9 affiliate Rashid “Rasha” Derissant was served with a 98 1/3 years to life, another member has been hit with a substantial sentence.

Alex Crandon, the 22-year-old GS9 member known as “A-Rod,” was sentenced to 53 2/3 years in prison on Friday. According to a report by the New York Daily News, Crandon was involved in a murder, shootings, and other violent crimes in East Flatbush over a two-year period.

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Abraham Clott dismissed Crandon’s plea to be set free so he can be a productive citizen and raise his daughter. Clott reasoned that Crandon’s request for a do-over would jeopardize the safety of East Flatbush.

Clott was convicted of conspiracy, murder, attempted murder, and other charges during trial this week. His convictions come alongside Rasha, who was found guilty of murder, attempted, and conspiracy in April.

Bobby Shmurda is still awaiting his trial for his 2014 arrest, along with the rest of the GS9 crew, who were all charged with similar conspiracy charges. His trial was postponed a second time, and is now scheduled to start in September. During this time, Shmurda is also suing the NYPD for alleged false imprisonment, claiming the police “kicked in the door and illegally entered the residence without a search warrant,” and that the gun and drug paraphernalia (crack cocaine, marijuana) they found wasn’t his.

Complex will continue to update this story as it is progresses.
