Beyonce Taps Parents of Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown and Tamir Rice for New Video

It looks like Beyonce’s socially conscious video for “Formation” wasn’t an anomaly, as she plans to tackle more social issues with her next video project. According to the buzz around the BeyHive, Queen Bey has tapped the parents of Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown and Tamir Rice for her new visual.

According to reports, Sybrina Fulton, Lezley McSpadden and Samaria Rice will be reportedly holding photos of their slain sons in the purported video. 17-year old Trayvon Martin was killed by security guard George Zimmerman in February 2012, Mike Brown, 18, was killed August 2014 by police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, MO; and 12-year old Tamir Rice was killed by Cleveland police officers in November of that same year. Each case drew national media coverage and became a catalyst for the Black Lives Matter movement and a national conversation regarding police in the black community.

In addition, fans also noticed 13 unlisted videos were uploaded to Beyonce’s Vevo page and her iTunes account was briefly inactive on March 23. This sparked a beehive of activity on Twitter; with many speculating that the R&B superstar might drop her new album very soon.

There hasn’t been an official confirmation from Beyonce’s camp about any new material or a planned video. As you may well know, the 34-year-old singer likes to surprise folks and drop music without any fanfare.

All of this shouldn’t be too much of a surprise, though. Beyonce and her husband, Jay Z, have attended rallies with Trayvon Martin’s family in the past and even helped bail out protesters during the Baltimore uprising. The couple also quietly donates monies and necessities to the Black Lives Matter movement.

For now, we’ll just have to get into #Formation and wait for Beyonce to slay us once again.
