New Orleans rapper Big Freedia will hit the road this fall in anticipation of her new album, Pressing Onward, set to arrive next year, Pitchfork reports.
The reigning bounce queen will kick off the trek October 12th at the Saturn in Birmingham, Alabama and wrap October 23rd at Brighton Music Hall in Allston, Massachusetts. The trek will feature fellow New Orleans outfit Tank and the Bangs and include stops in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Nashville and Brooklyn. Prior to the tour, Big Freedia will play a hometown show in New Orleans, September 23rd at Gasa Gasa, while on November 4th she'll perform at the Night of the Living Fest in Tuscon, Arizona.
Pressing Onward, meanwhile, has yet to be given a release date, but the LP marks Big Freedia's first since her 2014 official studio debut, Just Be Free. In the two years since, Big Freedia has shared a handful of new songs including last year's "Crazy," and "I Heard," which arrived in February. This year Big Freedia also notably contributed vocals to Beyoncé's "Formation."
Along with music, Big Freedia continued to star in her Fuse reality show, Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce, which finished its fifth season in August. In 2015, she also published her memoir, God Save the Queen Diva!
This summer, however, Big Freedia avoided jail time but was sentenced to three years probation and fined $35,000 after pleading guilty to theft of government funds. The rapper accepted almost $35,000 in housing assistance checks that she was not entitled to.
