Big K.R.I.T. Announces He's No Longer Signed to Def Jam news Big K.R.I.T. is officially no longer on Def Jam.

The announcement came from the Mississippi rapper/producer himself via Twitter, shortly after he released his 12 for 12 Freestyles Mixtape where he dropped 12 tracks every hour from noon to midnight of him spitting on instrumentals ranging from “Drug Dealers Anonymous” (which he retitled “Country N—-s Anonymous”) to ScHoolboy Q’s “THat Part,” and French Montana and Kodak Black’s “Lockjaw” beat.

K.R.I.T. decided to end the evening with the announcement, though he didn’t get specific about signing with another major.

“I want to thank each and every one of you for following & supporting me through out my career up until this moment,” K.R.I.T. wrote on Twitter. “And at this moment right now, I want to share with you, that I am no longer with Def Jam. It’s officially MULTI til the Sun die.”

K.R.I.T.’s last project with Def Jam was the It’s Better That Way mixtape, released in October 2015 with DJ Drama. His breakout mixtape came in 2010, when he dropped K.R.I.T. Wuz Here to critical acclaim. He signed to Def Jam and while on the label dropped two full-length releases, 2012’s Live From The Underground and a follow-up two years later, 2014’s Cadilactica, which debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 and was praised for its soulful production and K.R.I.T.’s keen, introspective vision of the world.

No word on when his next album will drop, but in the meantime, you can content yourself with K.R.I.T.’s 12 for 12 Freestyles Mixtape.
