Broadway Stars Team for Orlando Benefit Concert news

A slew of Broadway stars will perform a benefit concert in honor of the victims of the Orlando nightclub massacre July 25th at Orlando’s Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, The Associated Press reports.

“From Broadway With Love: A Benefit Concert For Orlando” will feature performances from Brian Stokes Mitchell, Norbert Leo Butz, Kelli O’Hara, Chita Rivera, Jessie Mueller and more. Additional performers will be announced in the coming weeks.

Tickets will go on sale Friday, July 8th, at 10 a.m., via the Dr. Phillips Center website. Prices range from $20 to $40. For those unable to attend, a CD and DVD of the concert will also be made available via Broadway Records.

Organizers will donate money raised from the benefit to three local organizations: The LGBT Center of Central Florida, the Hope and Help Center of Central Florida — which fights AIDS and assists those battling the disease — and the Zebra Coalition, which assists gay youth.

“From Broadway With Love” will also be held the night after the cast and creative team from the Tony-winning musical Fun Home delivers a special benefit concert version of the show at the same venue.

Musical director/radio host Seth Rudetsky organized “From Broadway With Love” with his husband, producer James Wesley, and Tony winner Kenny Howard. Wesley and Rudetsky, along with Broadway Records President Van Dean, were also behind the recent recording of Hal David and Burt Bacharach’s 1965 classic, “What the World Needs Now.” The all-star charity single featured over 60 stars including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Audra McDonald, Wayne Brady, Matthew Broderick, Sara Bareilles, Sarah Jessica Parker, Bernadette Peters, Nathan Lane and Whoopi Goldberg.
