Cash Money Records is taking over for the ’99 and the 2000s once again as Birdman has reportedly signed a deal with Apple Music for an exclusive documentary about the label.

Apple Music’s head of content, Larry Jackson, initially joked about the deal; claiming that he signed to Cash Money as a “R&B crooner.”

“My life is oh so complete now,” he jokingly tweeted, along with crying laughing emojis for emphasis that he was kidding. The Apple exec welcomed Birdman to the “fam” and made a reference to Birdman’s infamous “respeck” interview on Power 105.

“Check one off of the bucket list Signed as an R&B crooner to Ca$h Money yesterday. My life is oh so complete now. 😂😂😂 Welcome to the fam @birdman5star. Tough negotiator. Much respeck,” the tweet read.

Founded in 1991 by Birdman (aka Bryan Williams) and his brother Slim ( Ronald Williams), Cash Money emerged in the late 1990s with hits like Juvenile’s “Back That Azz Up”, B.G.’s Bling Bling and “I Need a Hot Girl” by the Hot Boys. The label continue to grow and reach massive success in the 2000s-2010s, after signing superstars Drake and Nicki Minaj who would become fixtures on the charts–alongside the label’s mainstay, Lil Wayne.

However, Weezy and Birdman have fallen out in recent years; citing money issues. Although they have since seemingly reconciled, lawsuits are ongoing. Drake and Nicki have since distanced themselves from the label, as well. It’s unclear whether or not the rhymers will appear in the documentary despite contributing a large part to the label.

This won’t be the first time that a documentary will chronicle an iconic force in southern hip-hop. Earlier this year, Netflix released The Art of Organized Noize, a look at the legendary Atlanta production crew that was responsible for the mid-90s sounds of the ATL and guided the careers of OutKast, Goodie Mob and more.
