CeeLo Green Reveals André 3000's Verse on Frank Ocean's "Solo (Reprise)" Is Actually 2 Years Old news

Ever since Frank Ocean finally released his heavily anticipated album Blonde last week, people can’t seem to stop talking about André 3000’s verse on the track “Solo (Reprise).” In the song, Three Stacks decries the state of the modern rap scene, calling out the proliferation of artists using ghostwriters.

“After 20 years in, I’m so naive
/ I was under the impression / That everyone wrote they own verses / It’s comin’ back different and, yeah, that shit hurts me.”

In the wake of his high profile feud with Meek Mill in 2015 about his own alleged use of ghostwriters, many thought that Dré was taking a shot at Drake in his verse. As it turns out however, that simply isn’t possible. In a new interview with Sway, André friend and former collaborator CeeLo Green revealed that the OutKast rapper actually laid down the incendiary verse two years back, way before the Drake/Meek beef even touched off.

“Stacks killing ’em right now!” Green said. “He was telling me that he did that verse like two years ago.” When asked by the host specifically if the song was about the beef, CeeLo responded by saying, “I can confirm that it’s not, but it’s good for Hip-Hop.”

In other news, Green also announced that the reclusive MC would be in attendance when the entire Dungeon family reunites together at the ONE Music Fest in Atlanta on Sept. 10. “Everybody is coming back together,” Green said. “We just had a big conference call yesterday.” For those who aren’t aware, the Dungeon Family is an Atlanta-based music collective primarily comprised of the members of OutKast, Organized Noize, and Goodie Mob.
