Chance the Rapper is currently preparing to embark on his Magnificent Coloring World tour, and he’s finally let some of the details slip on his performance in his hometown of Chicago. More than just a run-of-the-mill tour stop, Chance’s Chicago performance will actually be a miniature music festival held at Cellular Field on the city’s south side.
The Chicago Tribune reports that the event, billed as the “Magnificent Coloring Day,” will feature appearances from Lil Wayne, Skrillex, John Legend, Tyler, the Creator and more. It will be advertised as the “first ever music festival at U.S. Cellular Field on Chicago’s South Side,” and is set to be held on Sept. 24.
As the Tribune notes, this is the same weekend as Common’s Aahh Fest, a two-day hip-hop festival in Chicago’s Union Park. Although the festival was canceled last year, it is currently still set to go on as scheduled.
Ticket pricing and purchase information is set to be announced soon via Chance’s website.
The Magnificent Coloring World tour will support Chance’s recent project Coloring Book. The mixtape garnered critical acclaim and helped Chance make history with the first project to chart on the Billboard 200 off streaming alone. It even helped convince the Grammys to chance its eligibility rules to be more inclusive to free music and streaming-only releases. The tour will hit a number of cities across North America, Europe, and Australia over the next few months. You can find out more information about all the tour dates here.
