A year after Chinx was shot and killed in New York, police are now saying that his death may have been intentional.

In a Fox 5 News report, one of the investigating detectives, Lieutenant Richard Rudolph, said that Chinx’s shooting wasn’t a random drive-by but a targeted execution.

“I wouldn’t call it a set up, but was he a target? Yes…so, we believe our shooter walked up and fired into that car,” he said. “He (Chinx) was not involved, as far as we know, with any type of serious drugs.”

“But he was about to make it big. He was going to make money,” he continued. “Nobody, who knows anything about this murder specifically, is cooperating with the police at this time.”

Another investigator, Lieutenant Louron Hall, is calling for those in the rap industry to come forward if they have any information on who the shooter may be.

“When he arrives at Queens Boulevard and Main Street, that’s when an unknown individual approaches the driver’s side of Chinx’s vehicle…individuals in the rap industry, we really need those people to come forward,” said Lt. Hall.

Chinx, whose real name is Lionel Pickens, was a member of French Montana’s Coke Boys collective before he passed away. The late rhymer’s musical legacy lives on as a posthumous album, Legends Never Die, is set to be released on June 3. Check out his new single, “For the Love,” below.
