Coachella Organizers Are Plotting a Mega Festival With Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and More news

According to a report from the L.A. Times, Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Roger Waters, Neil Young, The Who and Bob Dylan are all currently in the midst of serious talks to headline a three-day mega festival on the same grounds used to host Coachella. The as yet unnamed event is apparently penciled in to take place on the weekend of October 7-9 later this year and will feature Dylan opening for the Stones on the first day, Young performing ahead of McCartney on the second day, and The Who and Waters closing the entire thing out on that Sunday.

“It’s so special in so many ways,” said Young’s longtime manager, Elliot Roberts. “You won’t get a chance to see a bill like this, perhaps ever again. It’s a show I look forward to more than any show in a long time.” According to another report from Billboard, unlike at most other festivals that take place around the country, each act will deliver, “their full stage productions, with full sets.” The publication also said that the headliners could receive as much as $7 million for showing up, and, like Coachella, are currently in talks to add a second weekend to the event.

If all goes according to plan, this festival would be one of the most historic gatherings of live talent ever assembled anywhere and at any time in popular music history. While many of these performers have shared stages all across the world throughout their illustrious careers, this would mark the first time that Dylan and McCartney have shared the same bill, even if they are playing separate days.
