"Panda" rapper Desiigner was arrested Thursday night in New York on three felony charges: criminal possession of a loaded weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance and menacing. A spokesperson for the NYPD confirmed the charges to Rolling Stone.
According to TMZ, Desiigner and four associates were involved in a road rage incident Thursday night that ended with the rapper allegedly pointing a firearm at the occupants of another vehicle. Although the rapper's SUV left the scene of the incident, the driver of the other vehicle took down the SUV's license plate and called authorities, who found the vehicle soon after. An NYPD spokesperson confirmed the account to Rolling Stone.
Upon searching the vehicle, police found a large quantity of "OxyContin and various other prescription pills" in the SUV's center console, the NYPD confirmed. Desiigner, born Sidney Selby, and all four of his associates – Utril Rhaburn, Scott Siegel, C.J. McCoy and Desiigner's hypeman Michael Davis – were charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. Rathburn was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, while Siegel was additionally charged with possession of a forged instrument.
The rapper was also hit with the loaded weapon and menacing charges because he allegedly pointed the gun at the other driver.
A rep for Desiigner did not immediately reply to a request for comment. At press time, Desiigner remains in custody. A court date has yet to be announced.
