Dolly Parton Plots Pure and Simple Summer: The Ram Report news

Monday’s announcement of Dolly Parton’s ‘Pure and Simple’ tour was a long time coming. . . 25 years, to be exact. This will be the country treasure’s first major tour of the U.S. and Canada in a quarter century. Her travels will take the singer to 60 North American cities this summer, with exact dates and stops to be announced soon.

Parton’s long overdue trek will coincide with the release of a new two-disc set, Pure and Simple and Dolly’s Biggest Hits. (I said ‘hits.’ I’ll have to be careful when I say that,” she joked at a press conference Monday in Nashville.) The former will feature new songs penned by the Tennessee native, with the latter featuring such beloved tunes as “9 to 5,” “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You.”

The made-for-TV movie based on another classic sure to make the collection, “Coat of Many Colors” hit ratings gold when it aired (and then re-aired) on NBC last year. It will be released on DVD this May, with Parton also revealing that a film is being made based on her devotional “The Seeker.”
