Donald Glover Returns to Music, Preps for September Release news

Donald Glover apparently has a few tricks up his sleeve. Last week, Childish Gambino shared a link an app title Pharos, though no one really knew what it was for—only a countdown clock was show once the app was opened. There was speculation that Glover was possibly counting down the days until the release of some new music, despite earlier claims that he’d retired.

Now that speculation has been confirmed, as information was released regarding a full album experience with a list of dates for shows. If you downloaded the Pharos app, you’re now seeing images teasing new music and an “album experience” which will take place September 2-4.  Pre-sale tickets will be available in the app starting June 24 at 9 a.m. PST. General sale starts June 27 at 9 a.m. PST, with tickets listed at $99 each including all taxes and fees. Apparently, the venue has limited capacity and fans were encouraged to bring their own tents.

XXL reports that a Reddit user had discovered that Glover filed for a trademark on the phrase “pharos.” The goods and services associated with the trademark explained as “entertainment services in the nature of presenting live musical performances; Entertainment, namely, live music concerts.” Given that explanation, It seems as though the multi-talented artist may even be looking into the content streaming arena, but we’ll all find out what Pharos’ real deal is come September.

The cryptic teasing of new music comes alongside the promos for Glover’s anticipated new television series, Atlanta, which is set to debut in September on FX. The quirky series has been described as the rap version of Twin Peaks and the promo teasers have fallen in line with the curious, off-beat vibe that Glover has perfected over the years. News of upcoming music also follows a recent announcement that he’s set to join the cast of the upcoming Spider-Man reboot, Spider-man: Homecoming.

With a slew of projects on the horizon, looks like Glover may have this fall on lock.
