Drake Breaks Another Billboard Record

There has been no shortage of Drake-related news this past weekend. After bringing out Rihanna for a debut performance of “Too Good”, Drake surprised us with Kanye West, and even more incredibly, teased a collaborative project between the two.

Now, Drake is making even more waves away from the stage. Views’ reign of the Billboard charts has been well documented, and the dominance of “One Dance” continues to break records. As of today, Drake can add another notch to his belt.

According to Billboard, “Once Dance” has helped Drake stay in the Hot 100’s top 10 for a total of 46 consecutive weeks. This record now passes the 45 weeks spent by Toronto’s own, The Weeknd. Of course, it is important to note that this record is strictly for a male lead, as Katy Perry has surpassed both Abel and Aubrey with her own crazy, 69 week record.

While Major Lazer and Justin Bieber sit atop the charts with their latest single, “Cold Water”, Drake’s “One Dance” continues to be the most heard song on the radio. Billboard has calculated 148.8 million listeners in the US, and notes that it has hit 13 weeks as the nation’s number one Hip-Hop and R&B song.

This record is no small feat, and the Views era continues to be Drake’s most successful album cycle to date, and one of the biggest in recent memory.
