Drake White Talks Inspiring ‘Dream,’ Zac Brown Tour

Drake White Talks Inspiring Dream, Zac Brown Tour news

Hokes Bluff, Alabama, native Drake White possesses an innate rootsiness that allows him to stand out in the crowded country-male field. His latest single, “Livin’ the Dream,” marries that organic vibe with a radio-ready approach, along with a universal message.

“‘Livin’ the Dream’ is totally different to everybody. Some people’s living the dream is in a city skyscraper in a huge city, and some people’s is in the mountains in a cabin,” says White of the song’s appeal to all walks of life. “I love the diversity of it and what it stands for, and how it cries out and says there are bad times, but embrace the struggle.”

White will perform the song on NBC’s Today on April 18th, and then bring “Dream” to amphitheaters this summer as direct support on Zac Brown Band’s Black Out the Sun Tour. The two singer-songwriters share a musical kinship derived from growing up in similar regions: White’s Hokes Bluff hometown is in the same latitude as Brown’s Dahlonega, Georgia.

Says White, “We’re from the same geographical area. . . and we were hearing a lot of the same noises growing up.”

White hits the road with the Zac Brown Band on May 19th in Hartford, Connecticut.
