Appropriately titled, “Drake’s Dad,” the song tells the story of the band’s frontman, Max Kerman, running into the father of 6 God at a random bar down in Memphis, Tenn. The native Canadians bonded enough that he was down to jump in the band’s video for the song. Decked in a red suit, Graham welcomes the band back to Memphis as they quickly pop back open some booze and relive the day of their chance encounter getting drunk and discussing American girls.
The song is a deep-fried in southern grooves and soul as the lyrics recount the day bouncing between cities and bars while missing their hometown city and women. By the time the chorus runs around, a church choir helps Kerman rejoice in the pleasure of it all as the video shoots back to Graham who continues to dance it outside a corner gas station.
Unfortunately, Drizzy won’t cross paths with the group who is set to perform at Lollapalooza today because he is already onto the next city for his Summer Sixteen Tour, but we hope Drake’s Dad showed his son the video while hanging out Wednesday night in Chicago. Watch it above.
