It’s been three years since Eminem has dropped a full-length album but it looks like he wants to take fans down memory with his next project. The Detroit native is planning to re-release his provocative 1999 major-label debut effort, The Slim Shady LP, on cassette.

On Friday (March 4), Em went on his Twitter account to make the announcement by posting a .Gif of a rotating cassette tape and providing a link where people can get more information. The website offers fans to sign up for a newsletter so they can be the first people to be notify when the cassettes become available.

The cassette will also come with a commemorative black T-shirt with the colorful “The Slim Shady LP” logo printed on the chest. There’s no word on what the price will be for this special release.

Undoubtedly, The Slim Shady LP was one of the most polarizing albums released on Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Records. The set’s first single, “My Name Is,” showcased Eminem’s sardonic wit and maniacal thoughts. “Hi kids! Do you like violence? / Wanna see me stick nine inch nails through each one of my eyelids? / Wanna copy me and do exactly like I did? / Try acid and get f—ed up worse than my life is,” he rapped.

The album went on to sell four million copies worldwide and earned Eminem his first two Grammy trophies for Best Rap Solo Performance (“My Name Is”) and Best Rap Album.

Reactions to Eminem re-releasing The Slim Shady LP on cassette were mixed. Some people are demanding that Em drop a new album instead and stop recycling his old material. Others are excited about the release and are planning to invest in a tape player.

“C’mon Em nobody uses cassettes anymore,” wrote one fan, while another person tweeted, “I’m going to buy a cassette player if the Shady LP is coming out on cassette.”
