A principal at the Paterson, New Jersey high school where Fetty Wap recorded a music video has been placed on leave, according to reports.

Donnie Evans, Paterson Superintendent, announced during a board of education meeting Wednesday (June 1) night that East Side High School principal of operations Zatiti Moody has been placed on paid administrative leave as the school district investigates the specifics regarding how the hip-hop star was given permission to record a video for “Wake Up” at his former high school–a video with drug references and a pole dancer.

The “Wake Up” video opens with a message: “I went back to my old high school to shoot this video. A nobody high school dropout now known worldwide as Fetty Wap. Celebrate every day, roll something up and define your own path.”

In the clip, the seductively-dressed dancer performs her pole dance in a classroom and posters that read “Go Team Kush” (a marijuana strain) are throughout the video.

The district does not endorse the video and Paterson school district spokeswoman Terry Corallo told NJ.com that it was shot during non-instructional hours with no students present. The district is investigating whether procedures were followed in allowing parts of the video to be recorded at the school.

For his part, Fetty defended the video and shooting it at his old high school.

“I went back to my old high school because I love my city,” he said via statement. “I wanted to show the students of Paterson that someone who walked those same hallways they walk every day and sat in the same classrooms shown in the video has become successful. If I can do it they can do it too.”
