Frank Ocean‘s follow-up to Channel Orange has generated an almost-mythic level of anticipation. Malay, the producer from that acclaimed debut album, recently sat down for an interview with Pitchfork and dished on the singer’s forthcoming sophomore project.

At the end of February, rumors circulated about a very private Ocean listening session that went down in New York City. A short clip found its way online, but was wiped clean from the Web as soon as people discovered it.

But with four years having passed since his last album, even the thought of this listening party fueled Ocean fans’ fire. They still have hope; this time around the music release seems very convincing. But let’s not forget, last year Ocean teased new music, rumored to be titled Boys Don’t Cry. It was never released.

We now have more concrete answers regarding his new music. But it’s still shrouded in mystery.

“I always tell people: When he’s ready, the world is gonna get it,” Malay stated after he was asked about a release date. “It could be tomorrow… well–not tomorrow but maybe a month.

“We’ve all been working hard,” the producer continued. “He’s been working super hard. I feel like he’s working harder than he’s ever worked in his life. I’m excited for everyone to hear it. I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised, for sure.”

In addition to providing updates on Frank Ocean’s album, Malay also discussed working with Zayn Malik, Miguel, Alessia Cara and other artists, during his interview.

We’ll keep you posted on Ocean updates!
