Though the Meek Mill and Drake beef is basically on the back burner now, it’s still one of the most popular topics in hip-hop discussions at the moment. For instance, during French Montana‘s recent interview with Larry King, the NYC rapper weighed in on the beef and how he thought it was more competition than anything else. “I feel like with this situation, it’s different, but at the end of the day, I don’t feel like they have real problems,” French said. “I feel like it’s just a sport. It’s a sport, so it’s like competition…Sometimes you spar with somebody. That’s what that is. Cause ain’t nobody get hurt. Nothing happens. So, I feel like it’s just part of the game. It brings excitement to the game.”
These are interesting comments from French, and quite telling since he’s been close with both Drake and Meek over the years. Still, as recently as January, Drake and Meek were still sending shots at each other on wax, so while they may not have any serious problems with the other, it doesn’t appear that they’re ready to let the beef go yet. With Meek currently unable to record new music and Drake wrapped up in Views From the 6, it will be curious to see if the beef continues any longer into 2016, or if they just let it all go and continue with their own careers.
