George Strait Begins Historic Vegas Run: The Ram Report news

On the south end of the famed Las Vegas Strip sits a brand-new, $375 million stadium built to lure even more entertainment to Sin City. The T-Mobile Arena opened April 6th, christened with a concert by hometown rock heroes, the Killers, and Vegas icon Wayne Newton. Tonight, the 20,000-seat venue welcomes its first country acts: George Strait and Kacey Musgraves.

This will be the first major concert in two years for Strait, who retired from touring in 2014. He has eight dates booked at the T-Mobile Arena: April 22nd and 23rd, September 9th and 10th, and December 2nd and 3rd. Fellow Texan Musgraves will open all shows.

While Strait has parked his tour bus, he is still making albums — and writing more for those albums than ever before. In 2013, he renewed his contract with longtime label MCA Nashville, inking the deal for five more albums. The first of those is last year’s chart-topping Cold Beer Conversation.
