Green Day have announced a new run of shows in North America and Europe to coincide with the release of the band's 12th studio album, Revolution Radio, which arrives next month.

The group will kick off the tour in St. Louis on September 20th. After several dates in the midwest, Green Day head to the East Coast before wrapping up the U.S. portion of the tour with dates in Los Angeles and Berkeley. In the new year, the band travels to Europe for a series of gigs in Italy, Germany, Sweden and the U.K.

After years of working with outside producers, Green Day chose to self-produce their latest record. "This time I just wanted to feel the freedom of just depending on ourselves and getting in a room," frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told Rolling Stone. "There's no in-between person, and we're forced to sort of be in there with each other."

As a result, Armstrong suggested that the group's musicianship reached new heights. "Tre's drumming on this record is I think the best he's ever done," Armstrong continued. "I could say the same with Mike's bass playing."

Revolution Radio hits shelves October 7th.
