Gregg Allman has canceled the majority of his upcoming tour dates due to "serious health issues," the Allman Brothers rocker announced Friday. Allman is currently under his doctor's care at the Mayo Clinic.

"I want to thank my fans and friends for supporting me while I rest up and focus on getting better and back on the road as soon as I can," Allman said in a statement. "I've been working hard with my band, my pride and joy, to play our music for everyone. We'll see y'all in October."

Twenty-eight shows have been nixed as a result of Allman's health emergency, including his August 11th concert at Scranton, Pennsylvania's Peach Music Festival, his September 16th set at San Diego's Kaaboo Festival as well as the Morrison, Colorado stop of Allman's own Laid Back Festival. Allman's entire August tour with ZZ Top and his September solo tour have also been cancelled.

As of now, Allman has scheduled his return to the stage for the Laid Back Festival in Atlanta on October 29th. After that, Allman has a 10-night residency at New York's City Winery beginning November 6th.

In 2011, Allman similarly cancelled a solo tour after suffering from an upper respiratory condition stemming from a successful liver transplant he had the previous year. In that case, Allman was off his feet for six weeks before returning to the road.
