Hear Big K.R.I.T. Freestyle Over Kanye, Drake Beats on '12 for 12' news

Big K.R.I.T. embarked and completed an ambitious project Tuesday for his new mixtape, with the Mississippi rapper freestyling over a dozen beats by artists like Drake, Kanye West, Flying Lotus and more. K.R.I.T. uploaded a new freestyle every hour for 12 hours to form his 12 for 12. Stream the mixtape below or download it over at DatPiff.

K.R.I.T. kicked off the series by jumping on Schoolboy Q’s “THat Part,” with the rapper later freestyling over tracks like Future’s “Wicked,” Drake’s “Hype” and “4PM in Calabasas,” French Montana’s “Lock Jaw,” Bryson Tiller’s “Rambo,” Kodak Black’s “Skrt,” Pusha T and Jay Z’s “Drug Dealers Anonymous” and more. 12 for 12 wrapped with K.R.I.T. tackling Kanye West’s “Real Friends” beat.

Each freestyle was accompanied by artwork featuring a star athlete who wore the number 12: Tom Brady, John Stockton, Philadelphia Eagles-era Randall Cunningham, Alfonso Soriano, and in one instance, a Photoshopped Michael Jordan wearing #12 instead of his trademark #23 (or briefly #45).

K.R.I.T. also followed up the 12 for 12 rollout with some major career news. “I want to thank each and every one of you for following & supporting me throughout my career up until this moment,” the rapper tweeted. “And at this moment right now, I want to share with you, that I am no longer with Def Jam.” Instead, K.R.I.T. will operate on his own Multi-Alumni label.
