Deftones have debuted "Doomed User," a winding, guitar-heavy track from their new LP, 'Gore' Raphael Dias/Getty

Deftones showcased their lush, psychedelic side with recent single “Prayers/Triangles,” but the art-metal veterans veer toward their most primal and metallic with “Doomed User,” which premiered Wednesday via Sirius XM. “Your kingdom is burning,” Chino Moreno sings over a barrage of de-tuned riffs and clattering cymbals. “Don’t waste your breath.”

“It’s got a rockin’ rhythm and a high tech sound that will make you shake your body down to ground,” Moreno told the radio outlet of “Doomed User,” which the band debuted live earlier this month. Deftones will return to the stage Wednesday, March 16th at the Never Say Never Festival in Mission, Texas; after concluding that run of shows on March 24th, the band will resume touring with another stretch of American dates launching May 8th.

The 11-track Gore, co-produced by the band and Matt Hyde, is out April 8th via Warner Bros. Records. Last year, Moreno told Rolling Stone that the songs were crafted in a more “heady” style than their past work.

“I feel like we’ve gone into the songs and really dissected them,” he said. “If something sounded a little straight, we took a left turn and made things a little screwy. We just tried something completely opposite, not to sabotage it, but to challenge ourselves and try new things that we haven’t done in the past. It definitely feels like we’ve taken a step from our last record. But it’s definitely a Deftones record, and it has all the elements that make us who we are. We’re not going out there to change anything, other than just thinking outside the box.”
