Life of Agony will put out their first new album in over a decade, A Place Where There's No Pain, in Spring 2017, and they're currently teasing it with a short video that showcases the band performing a number of heavy new riffs as well as the soaring chorus of the title cut. "And I just want to disappear and hide," frontwoman Mina Caputo sings at the end of the clip. It will be the group's first album since the singer's gender transition.
The group last put out a new LP, Broken Valley, in 2005 and the band has been playing sporadic dates in the years since. In January, Rolling Stone heralded A Place Where There's No Pain as one of the 25 Most Anticipated Metal Albums this year.
"I think our fans know that our music comes from a very real place of suffering, from all of us in the band," bassist and songwriter Alan Robert said of the title at the time. "Many of our fans have told us over the years that sharing our personal struggles has been cathartic for them in healing the pain in their own lives. That uplifting energy we share at the shows, gives us hope that there's light at the end of the tunnel. And for us and hopefully our fans, that short time when we're all together is a place where there's no more pain."
Next month, Life of Agony will hit the road in Europe, where they plan to debut new material.
