Hear Joe Nichols' Seductive New Single 'Undone' news

Joe Nichols returns to country radio with the sultry and suggestive “Undone,” the latest single from his long-awaited ninth studio LP due later this year. Penned by Trevor Rosen, Josh Osborne and Ross Copperman, the tune’s romantic lyrics and summer-perfect vibe are a steamy change of pace from Nichols’ previous release, the anthemic “Freaks Like Me,” offering a well-balanced portrait of an artist who remains true to his traditional roots but can still turn up the heat at country radio. That high-wire walk, he admits, is a tricky one, especially for an artist who would approach things differently if radio airplay weren’t so closely tied to record sales.

“You want to find the balance between art and commerce,” Nichols tells Rolling Stone Country. “If I could just make the record I wanted to make, I’d hire the countriest guys in Nashville. Kenny Sears, Opry members, the Time Jumpers. Maybe Vince Gill to come sing. And we’d make a country record that probably wouldn’t get sold at all. Lots of twin fiddles, steel guitars, country shuffles and western swing.”

A frequent guest on the Grand Ole Opry, Nichols was among the acts at this year’s Stagecoach Music Festival earlier this month. He has already landed six Number One singles on the country charts, including “Yeah” and “Sunny and 75,” both produced by Mickey Jack Cones, who handled production on “Undone” as well. “Undone” officially goes for airplay beginning June 6th, and is already available for purchase here.

On Monday, May 16th, at 2:00 p.m. ET, Nichols hosts his first-ever Facebook Live chat, where he’ll reveal more details about the upcoming album, which follows 2013’s Crickets. He’s currently on the road performing headlining shows and participating in other major festivals. Check tour dates at his official website.
