Kathleen Hanna performed a silly cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark” for the film Maggie’s Plan. Actor Tommy Buck accompanies Hanna and both singers appear in the film, according to IMDB.
Hanna and Buck strip down the Eighties pop jam to a folksy singalong with the pair trading off on vocals. The Bikini Kill singer’s role is listed as “Québécois Female Singer,” explaining the accented vocals.
Maggie’s Plan, out on Friday May 20th, stars Greta Gerwig, Ethan Hawke, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph and Julianne Moore. In the film, Gerwig plays Maggie, a woman who decides to become a single mother and inseminate herself but falls in love with Hawke’s anthropologist character John along the way.
Hanna has rarely acted in the past, making appearances in a pair of short films over the last decade. In the early Nineties, she appeared in a few episodes of a teen soap titled Almost There!
