Hear Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock Hop on Schoolboy Q's 'THat Part' Remix news

Schoolboy Q‘s new album Blank Face LP dropped Friday, and the rapper celebrated by dropping a remix of the single “THat Part” featuring his Black Hippy cohorts Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock and Ab-Soul.

Each of the Black Hippy crew’s individual members’ talents are on display in the “THat Part” remix: Jay Rock’s scene-stealing imagery, Lamar’s rapid-fire delivery and dexterous wordplay, Ab-Soul’s otherworldly rhymes and no-holds-barred lyricism courtesy of Schoolboy, who hops back on the beat after the track ends to contribute a fiery, topical new verse recorded earlier this week.

“Gangbangin’ like we stand for somethin’ / When Alton Sterling gettin’ killed for nothin’,” Schoolboy raps of the Baton Rouge man shot and killed by police on Tuesday; the aftermath was captured on video. “Two cowards in the car, they’re just there to film / Sayin’ #BlackLivesMatter should’ve died with him.”

The one downside to the “THat Part” remix: It knocks original featured guest Kanye West off the track. In addition to the release of his Blank Face LP, Schoolboy Q has planned a 24-hour installation for the album’s accompanying short film, set for Los Angeles’ Independent Theatre from Friday 6 a.m. to Saturday 6 a.m. Fans who show proof of purchase of the Blank Face LP will receive free admission to a screening.
