Sting stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to discuss his next studio album, 57th & 9th. He also performed the back-to-basics Police song "Next to You" with help from his current backing band, the Last Bandoleros, who added punch and smooth backing vocals.
"[57th & 9th is] rockier than anything I've done in a while," Sting told Rolling Stone. "This record is a sort of omnibus of everything that I do, but the flagship seems to be this energetic thing. I'm very happy to put up the mast and see how it goes."
"Most of it was done in an impulsive way," added producer Marin Kierszenbaum. "One or two takes. I don't think he's rocked like this since Synchronicity."
57th & 9th does not yet have an official release date.
