"I hope you find someone to lose someday," Jeff Tweedy croons on Wilco's folksy new track, a highlight from the band's upcoming 10th studio album, Schmilco. "Someone to Lose" finds Tweedy strumming a faint acoustic guitar, backed by a woozy bassline and minimal drums. Distorted, snarling electric guitars explode on the chorus, adding a raw rock edge to the otherwise laid-back cut.

"Lose" is the band's third sampling of Schmilco, following the country-tinged "If I Ever Was a Child" and bass-heavy, noise-pop excursion "Locator." The 12-track album, out September 9th via dBpm, focuses on acoustic arrangements, with lyrics that explore self-identity and public perceptions of the group.

"I think this record is 'joyously negative,'" Tweedy said of the album. "It's sad in a lot of ways but not in any that reach a conclusion of doom or hopelessness. I just had a lot of fun being sour about the things that upset me."

Schmilco follows the sextet's surprise 2015 LP, Star Wars, which the band initially released as a free download. Last year, Tweedy referenced Schmilco in an interview with Rolling Stone, explaining that Wilco had also finished another album that turned out "very different" from its predecessor. "It was more that these songs sounded great in this sequence, and what I wanted to do was make sure that almost everything was over a certain beats per minute, for the most part," he said.
