DJ Khaled finally unleashed his new single “I Got the Keys” tonight after the BET Awards, the second track off his upcoming album Major Key, which is dropping July 29. “I Got the Keys” features Jay Z and Future.
Future teased the song on Twitter recently, saying it was “gone f$ck da Summer up” and noting that “Jigga is going very very very Krazy in a major way.” Khaled also addressed it, saying “I have to be honest it’s a very serious anthem fan luv #Major🔑 the album it’s coming I’m fully loaded.”
The hype for this track kicked into high gear this week when photos were shared online by Roc Nation A&R Lenny “Kodak Lens” Santiago from the song’s video shoot. It featured Khaled, Jay Z, and Future dressed in all black. They were accompanied by some friends including Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Swizz Beatz, Bryson Tiller, Pusha T, A$AP Ferg, T.I., Yo Gotti, and Fabolous, and more.
When he hasn’t been busy getting even more Snapchat famous, Khaled has been touring the country with Beyoncé on her “Formation” world tour. Although he’s tight with Bey now, he recently revealed that he still gets nervous around her. “I’m very quiet,” he said. “Every time I’ve ever seen her is when I’m with my brother Jay Z, and I just say, ‘Hi,’ and I look the other way so fast, and I kind of run.”
Major Key will be Khaled’s first album since he experienced a career resurgence surrounding his popularity on Snapchat last year. The project is set to make a big impact with Khaled’s new legion of young fans. He discussed it on Twitter recently, saying that it had “so many of the biggest anthems.”
