Iggy Azalea Named TV Producer at Universal; Plans to 'Create Television That Is Reflective of My Generation' news

Iggy Azalea isn’t just the “Fancy” rapper anymore since she’s got a new job title — TV producer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Azalea inked a deal with Universal Cable Productions and Wilshire Studios. For content, the 26-year-old is aiming to create content for fellow 20-somethings. The topics will range from “social justice and tolerance to empowering young women,” reports the site.

“Creating television that is reflective of my generation has always been an aspiration of mine,” said Azalea.“I am incredibly excited to start working on my ideas and am humbled that Universal Cable Productions and Wilshire Studios have given me this once-in-a-life time opportunity.”

The company also took the time to speak about their new partnership with Azalea.

“Iggy is a strong, passionate voice for her generation and has incredible creative instincts in all aspects of media,” said the Executive Vice President of Development at UCP and Wilshire Studios, Dawn Olmstead. “We already have projects in both the scripted and non-scripted areas. We are very excited to have her join forces with us.”

This is a pretty big win for Azalea who’s had a long rough patch. Back in March, her then-fiancé Iggy Azalea just got a new job. Nick Young admitted to cheating on the Aussie rhymer with multiple women in a secretly recorded video. Since then, the two have split and it was reported that Azalea also owes over $270,000 in taxes to the IRS and is getting sued for $1.5 million by a Grammy-winning producer. All this while not being able to get a song to stick on the charts like her breakout hit, “Fancy.”
