Janet Jackson has once again postponed her Unbreakable tour, but for good reason: The singer revealed that she and her husband Wissam Al Mana are “planning our family.” “I’m gonna have to delay the tour,” Jackson said of the “sudden change” in her tour schedule in a video Wednesday morning. “Please if you can try and understand that it’s important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor’s orders.”
The 49-year-old singer didn’t specify whether she was already pregnant. Jackson also promised fans, “I have not forgotten about you. I will continue to tour as soon as I possibly can.” After thanking everyone involved in her tour, from the dancers to the behind-the-scenes crew, she tells them, “I can’t wait to get started again.”
Jackson’s Unbreakable tour has hit numerous bumps on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean since the singer embarked on the trek last August. The following month, a handful of U.S. dates were postponed so Jackson could “rest my vocal chords”; two months later, on Christmas, she again postponed the entirety of the North American leg in order to undergo an unspecified surgery that she promised fans wasn’t cancer.
Two weeks later, Jackson again rescheduled all those delayed concert dates, only to abruptly postpone the entire leg of her European tour in March without explanation. “It is not possible to confirm new dates at the present time so we are refunding all ticket holders,” Ticketmaster said in an email to ticket buyers. Despite the cancellation, Jackson still performed March 26th at the Dubai World Cup.
The second North American leg of Jackson’s Unbreakable Tour was scheduled to relaunch May 14th in Las Vegas and conclude 50 shows later on August 28th in Cleveland.
