Jennifer Lopezs Aint Your Mama Video Calls on Women to Start a Rebellion news

Jennifer Lopez just dropped the video for her single “Ain’t Your Mama,” and it takes the song’s call for women’s empowerment up a notch with an added intro and powerful plot line. The song, co-written by Meghan Trainor and Jacob Kasher and ironically produced by Dr. Luke, announces that the singer won’t do chores for a significant other because she “ain’t your mama.” It’s an anthem for women dealing with man-children everywhere, and the music video ties it into larger issues of sexism contributing to these relationships.

Happy sunny day!! Are you guys ready for #aintyourmama video!!??

The video opens with JLo as a newscaster preparing to go on air, and Hillary Clinton’s 1995 United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women speech plays in the background. “Human rights are women’s rights, and women’s rights are human rights, once and for all,” Clinton is heard saying as JLo sits down at her desk. “It’s our time to have wage equality once and for all and equal rights for women in the United States of America.”

Then, the pop star drops her papers. “Look, I don’t have to tell you thinks are bad,” she addresses viewers. “Everybody knows things are bad. We’re taken for granted, ignored, overlooked, under-appreciated. We have a big problem, ladies.” A 1950s housewife also played by JLo caches the show as the newscaster tells women everywhere to get mad and yell. She rebels and dumps the dish he’s cooked on her husband. The video also shows several women, all played by JLo, standing up against sexual harassment and exclusion in the workplace.

The social commentary is blatant here: JLo wants women everywhere to stop letting men treat them like their mothers, in the household and outside it.
