The 22-year-old took to Instagram early this morning (August 2) sharing a screenshot of his FaceTime session with Kanye—he captioned it, “Taylor Swift What Up.” The caption immediately began trending on Twitter with the launch of the #TaylorSwiftWhatUp hashtag.
From there, Twitter went into a #TeamTaylor vs. #TeamKimye, #beliebers vs. #swifties frenzy. Since Kim Kardashian released footage on Snapchat of Kanye running the lyrics to “Famous” by Swift, and getting her approval, their celebrity cohorts have either stayed out of the beef or proudly joined #TeamTaylor or #TeamKimye. Others (Chris Brown) have just wondered why anyone cares about the entire thing at all.
Most recently, Kanye told a crowd at Drake’s Summer Sixteen show in Chicago that he was glad his wife has Snapchat. It’s unclear exactly why Justin decided that his voice was essential to add to the conversation but Twitter really loved that he has an opinion, and the reaction to his loyalty declaration has been pretty entertaining.
