A coroner has confirmed that Justin Bieber lookalike and Botched star Tobias Strebel — also known as Toby Sheldon — died from multiple drug intoxication, reports The Wrap. Strebel had spent $100,000 on plastic surgery to look like the "Sorry" pop star.
Strebel was 35 at the time of his death and was found in a Los Angeles Motel 6 last August three days after being reported missing. According to the autopsy report, Strebel's overdose was accidental, with the lookalike having Vicodin, Xanax, alcohol and sleep aid Temazepam in his system. More drugs were found around his room.
The Germany-born aspiring songwriter reportedly began his surgeries to emulate Bieber in 2008 when the pop star was only 13. At the time, Bieber was a budding YouTube star who had just been signed by Scooter Braun.
Strebel's hefty medical bill and desire to look like the young pop star made news in 2013 and he appeared on plastic surgery show Botched in 2014. Later, he appeared on TLC's My Strange Addiction. "When Justin Bieber got famous, I was so jealous of his good looks," he said on the reality show. "He had this baby face that I just really liked. I was like 'Damn, that's what I want to look like!'"
Over the course of seven years, Strebel had multiple hair transplants to emulate the singer's famous teenage bangs, eyebrow filler and smile surgery to fully imitate the youthful look of the singer. "I can definitely look back and say that all those surgeries were really successful," he said on the TLC show.
