Ka Releases 'Honor Killed the Samurai' and New Video for "Just"

Brownsville MC Ka has kept a pretty low profile since he and producer Preservation dropped Days With Dr. Yen Lo last year. The album was well received by critics as well as fellow artists, most of whom lauded the project for its unique production and Ka’s distinct, almost dizzying voice. Now, over year since that record was released, the 40-year-old rapper has come through with his fourth studio album, Honor Killed the Samurai.

Released on Saturday, the new project features 10 tracks, which, according to Ka, are heavily inspired by Japanese culture. And, much like he’s done in the past, Ka kept the album’s promotion to a minimum, sending out only a few tweets announcing the release date. He also informed fans that he would be posted outside the now-defunct Other Music Shop in New York City Saturday afternoon, selling physical copies of the new album as well as old stock.

If you missed out, don’t worry: Honor Killed the Samurai can be purchased on iTunes or directly from Ka’s website. In conjunction with the album release, Ka also presented a music video for the track “Just,” which features animation by Kyle Samuels. You can check it out above.
