Keke Palmer Draws Inspiration from Aaliyah in 'Yellow Lights' [VIDEO]

Keke Palmer is channeling Aaliyah for her latest single and video “Yellow Lights.”

The young singer and actress was trending on Twitter last night and decided to use the opportunity to make a splash on the internet with new music and visuals.

“I was trending on Twitter, I have been evolving as a young woman and I notice it has been gaining a lot of attention some good and some bad comments, and that is ok because it shows that people care about me and thinking about me and that is good stuff,
she said. “One of my favorite videos was “4 page letter” by Aaliyah so the vision for the video was a take on that vibe, mixed in with who I am as an artist. I have my “shadow kids” dressed in black, I first introduced them in my “Enemiez” video, they represent my conscience. I love Aaliyah to me she was a true artist in every since of the word and I continue to just be inspired by her and let my heart guide me as always.”

Similar to the late Baby Girl’s video, Palmer sets the video in a forest as she provides some dance choreography (including some body rolls.) However, unlike Aaliyah’s video, Palmer does not end up dancing around fire with her beau. Either way, it’s hot.

The song itself brings back that old R&B, as Palmer sings about yearning. “Running all these yellow lights to get to you,” she coos.
