Kid Cudi Shares His Thoughts on the Orlando Shooting, Challenges Hip Hop To Embrace LGBTQ Rights news

Kid Cudi is challenging hip-hop fans and artists to take the tragedy of the Orlando club shooting to heart, and to work towards being more embracing of the LGBTQ community. The Ohio-born rapper tweeted his thoughts in the wake of what’s being called the worst mass killing in U.S. history and made it clear that he wants to do more than just give money and talk.

“My heart and prayers go out to the LGBT community and everyone affected by this tragedy,” Kid Cudi tweeted. “Really upset today. I wish there was more I could do than tweet, build awareness and donate money. Thats not enough. Not for me.”

A major part of moving forward, according to Cudi, is to make sure hip-hop works to advocate more for the rights of LGBTQ people.

“The Hip Hop community is the least outspoken about gay rights and Ima go out my way to change that,” he tweeted. And he made it clear that he wasn’t interested in anyone gay-bashing.

“IF YOU ARE AN INSECURE HOMOPHOBE AND HAVE A ISSUE WITH GAYS AND EQUALITY, UNFOLLOW ME NOW. THANK YOU,” Cudi tweeted.

The reactions to his tweets varied, but there were more than a few showings of solidarity.

“What Cudi said,” tweeted Ty Dolla $ign, to which Cudi responded, “I f—s with you for this Ty! Mad love fam keep crushin’!”
