Looks like Lil Wayne’s ongoing beef with Birdman could potentially be costing him money. theJasmineBRAND reports that a federal judge won’t allow Wayne’s lawsuit against Universal Music Group to move forward until his dispute with Birdman is resolved. Universal Music Group (UMG) reportedly filed a response to the suit, asking for it to be put on hold until Wayne sorts out his issues with Cash Money Records and label CEO, Bryan “Birdman” Williams.

Wayne reportedly is seeking $20 million from UMG in unpaid royalties, stemming from his work with Nick Minaj, Tyga and Drake. Reportedly, UMG took money that it owed Wayne and redirected it to Birdman to compensate for the $100 million deal that was inked with him. Aside from UMG, Wayne is also suing Birdman for $51 million. The latest ruling says that because of the similarities between the cases, Wayne must sort his issues out with Cash Money first, because it will affect the decision with UMG.

Although Birdman has claimed that things are better between him and Wayne, who he still refers to as his family, Wayne has a difference in opinion, which he routinely let’s be known publicly. He killed any talks of a settlement with Cash Money back in May. Meanwhile, Weezy is continuing to make music, including an appearance on DJ Khaled’s latest offering, Major Key. He also will appear with frequent collaborator 2 Chainz during his second annual “Lil Weezyana Fest” in New Orleans later this month.

As for his suit against Cash Money and UMG, time will only tell if Wayne will ever get the money he feels he’s owed.
