Lin-Manuel Miranda brought his hit play Hamilton to the TV screen for the 2016 Grammy Awards.

In the preview of the show, the cast sings and raps about the history of the founding fathers — most notably the titular character, Alexander Hamilton. Set in New York City’s Richard Rodgers Theater, the impressive cast show off a bit of the famous sold-out show from the mind of Miranda.

This isn’t the first time Miranda’s show was incorporated in an award ceremony. The New York native and his crew graced the BET Hip Hop Awards with a cypher last year.

In a behind-the-scenes interview for the BET Hip Hop Awards, Miranda said that Hamilton is a “love letter to hip-hop.”

Although the show chronicles the lives of the founding fathers like Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson, there are also a number of hip-hop references as well including Biggie, DMX and Mobb Deep. “There’s all the 90s hip-hop I grew up listening to,” he said in the interview.

And people are loving it. The sensational show also snagged Best Musical Theater Album at the 2016 Grammy Awards. In a Hamilton fashion, Miranda rapped his acceptance speech with shout outs to “King Kendrick” and “the whole Roots crew” and of course his cast, who “always inspired me to pull through.”

“Sebastian, Daddy bringing home a Grammy for you,” said Miranda at the ended the rhymed speech.
