Two of the late David Bowie's final three studio recordings, "When I Met You" and "No Plan," debuted Tuesday on two different BBC Radio shows ahead of the songs' official release later this week.
All three previously-unreleased songs were made with the Blackstar band and producer Tony Visconti. The recordings are all part of the 2 disk CD/3LP Lazarus Cast Album set to accompany Bowie's Lazarus musical that will feature both tracks, a third final studio Bowie recording titled "Killing a Little Time," the Blackstar recording of "Lazarus," and cast versions of classic Bowie songs.
The stage show is based on Bowie’s 1976 film. The Man Who Fell To Earth. Until now, the show songs had only been heard as performed by the Lazarus musical cast, which premiered in late 2015 in New York City and will run at London’s King’s Cross Theatre from Oct. 25 until Jan. 21 of next year with Michael C. Hall, Michael Esper, Sophia Anne Caruso, and director Ivo Van Hove all reprising their roles.
Listen to "When I Met You" here, at the 51-minute mark of Shaun Keaveny's BBC Radio 6 show and listen to "No Plan" here at the 46:20 mark of Jeremy Vine's BBC Radio 2 show. Be sure to look out for the third unreleased song, "Killing a Little Time," which has not yet been revealed. The Lazarus Cast Album is set to drop Friday, Oct. 21 on via ISO/RCA Records.
