When Netflix’s new Marvel show Luke Cage was released on Friday, it’s safe to assume that many who complained about TV’s lack of diversity were pleased.

The show follows ex-convict Carl Lucas, who battles crime in the streets of Harlem with supernatural powers. The main character, as well as others in the series, are black and people of color and some believe the producers are being racist.

“Lack of white people in Luke Cage makes me uncomfortable,” one Twitter user wrote. “This show is racist. How is this on Netflix?”

“I’m not racist, but why is Luke Cage so political,” another person tweeted. “Why do they talk about being black all the time? Where are the white characters?”

Of course, it didn’t take very long for others to respond.

“White people who are like ‘I don’t see race’ are the same people who are like ‘Why are there no white people in Luke Cage. This is racist,’” wrote Twitter user Irl Jan.

You can see other comments about the series below, and from the looks of it this back-and-forth between viewers is just getting started.
