Two years after their critically acclaimed release, Piñata, Madlib and Freddie Gibbs are set to drop their collaborative follow-up, Bandana.

According to Pitchfork, Madlib revealed the news during his interview at Red Bull Music Academy on Saturday (May 7). The famed producer said that much of the music that was submitted for Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo album will appear on the Bandana project.

Gangsta Gibbs also confirmed the album via his Twitter account. There’s no word on an official release date as of yet.

In 2014, Madlib and Gibbs released Piñata, which graced several year-end lists by such music websites like Complex, Spin, Billboard and others. The Boombox called the album “Thrilling” and that “We should all kiss the ground upon which Gangsta Gibbs (aka Freddie Gibbs) and Otis Jackson Jr. (Madlib) walk on just for seeing this album through to release.”

Since the release of Piñata, several events happened between Madlib and Gibbs during the two-year period. For the Indiana rapper, he released his second solo effort, Shadow of a Doubt, in 2015. He also became a new dad with the arrival of his baby girl Irie Jane Gibbs. As for Madlib, he produced “No More Parties in L.A.” for West’s TLOP album.

Overall, this is good news for rap fans yearning to hear the dynamic duo again on a project full of unadulterated rhymes over sampled-based beats.
