Since beginning its 41st season on NBC, Saturday Night Live has featured such musical guests as Adele, the Weeknd, and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Now, for the first time since the January appearance of Chris Stapleton, the show will welcome another country act to its stage: Margo Price. SNL announced the April 9th appearance via social media, with Russell Crowe tapped to host.

Price, who just released Midwest Farmer’s Daughter, the first full-on country LP on Jack White’s Nashville-based Third Man Records, is an even more significant booking for the sketch-comedy show since her album was released via an independent label. The record, which is peppered with candid tales of unimaginable loss and Price’s therapeutic musings about being thrown in jail, is certainly far removed from what country radio is playing these days — perhaps because of that, it has made Price one of the year’s most buzzworthy artists.

“A lot of people like mainstream country because they’re not given another option of country music to like that’s modern,” Price tells Rolling Stone. “Much of the record is me giving the finger to the music business. I’m curious how I’ll be accepted in those circles now.”

During SNL‘s 40th anniversary season, musical guests included Zac Brown Band and Alabama Shakes, the roots-rock band featuring Price’s friend (and frequent karaoke partner) Brittany Howard, who says, “Margo Price doesn’t understand the words ‘No, you can’t.’ She’s a huge inspiration.”
