Max B will be coming home early. According to Billboard, the rapper’s publicist has confirmed that he will be getting out of jail significantly sooner than anticipated; his 75-year sentence has been shortened. Wiz Khalifa tweeted the news on Friday (Sept. 16.)

“Max B is coming home,” tweeted Wiz. “Sentence got shortened. Looks like the Gang will be working wit the Wave.

Max, born Charly Wingate, was sentenced in 2009 alongside his stepbrother Kelvin Leerdam, for a fatal armed robbery. Leerdam received a life term plus 35 years after jurors found that he killed one of the victims.

Max B was signed to Jim Jones‘ Byrd Gang label back in 2006, but split from the label two years later. He became a close affiliate of French Montana‘s Coke Gang and Max’s debut album Vigilante Season was released in 2011. Max released “Silver Surfer” with Khalifa, Joe Young and Alpac in February–which is also when Max and French dropped their Wave Gods mixtape.

French Montana confirmed the news of his friend and collaborator’s release via Instagram.

“All of max charges have been dropped and he entered in to a plea deal and took aggravated manslaughter,” French posted in an image. “Best case scenario max could be home in two years worst case scenario he can be home in six.”

French was more celebratory in the caption.

“I had dream about this 🙏” French wrote. “I told my bro this when he lost hope ❗️can’t wait for you to get home ❗️trust me when I tell you God is the greatest ❗️🏄🏻🏄🏻🏄🏻 #bossdon #cokewave.”

“This proceeding was not a question of my guilt or innocence, but about the bad advice, poor judgment, and overall ineffectiveness of my trial attorney,” Max said in an official statement.
