Meat Loaf 'In Good Condition' After Concert Collapse news

Meat Loaf was hospitalized Thursday night after collapsing during a concert in Edmonton, Alberta, with the singer listed in “stable and in good condition,” the singer’s rep said.

Meat Loaf fell to the ground during the encore while performing his hit “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That).” Video from the incident shows the singer drop his microphone suddenly and keel forward mid-song, slowly sprawling out onto the stage. A band member and others backstage soon rushed out to help the singer.

Concertgoers were then asked to vacate Edmonton’s Jubilee Auditorium as Meat Loaf was transported to a nearby hospital.

Although Meat Loaf collapsed during the encore, he reportedly struggled throughout the show, as concertgoer Mikey McBryan told the Associated Press, “It was him forgetting words, he wasn’t on cue, but it was forgivable. We’re all loving it and going crazy, and then it just took a turn for the worst.”

Prior to the onstage collapse, Meat Loaf had canceled two upcoming performances – Saturday in Moose Jaw and Tuesday in Calgary – citing ill health. The singer has not yet provided an update on the status of his upcoming shows, including a Saturday night gig in Cold Lake, Alberta.

In 2011, Meat Loaf also briefly passed out during a concert in Pittsburgh but, after a visit from medics, recovered and was able to complete the performance. Eight years earlier, at a Wembley Arena gig in 2003, the singer collapsed and was transported to a London hospital. The singer has previously blamed asthma and past concussions for his onstage blackouts.
